The Village Justice Court handles violations of the New York State
Vehicle and Traffic Law. Village Justices are elected for a 4 year term.

Business hours are 9 AM to 4 PM, Monday through Friday.
Call ahead for business hours on scheduled court nights.
Court sessions for Arraignments, Conferences and Trials are generally held
in the evening at 6:00 PM.
If you have received a summons or a letter to appear in Court or pay a fine
in the Village of Great Neck Estates, you MUST respond BEFORE the return
date to avoid suspension of your license or registration.
Personal appearances are required for all Village Code offenses, except parking violations.
PARKING TICKETS: Enter a plea of "guilty" or "not guilty" at the bottom
of the ticket, fill in your name and address information and sign the
ticket.
If pleading "guilty" send the ticket to the Court along with a bank check or
money order payable to Great Neck Estates Village Court.
If pleading "not guilty" you can appear at Court on the return date listed
at the top of the ticket.
If you are pleading NOT GUILTY, write “not guilty” on the back of the
ticket with your signature and the date. A court appearance letter will be
mailed to you.
TRAFFIC TICKETS: Fines are set by the Village Justice for traffic
violations.
If you are pleading GUILTY, sign Section A on the right side of the ticket,
print your mailing address and submit it to the Court. A notice of fines and
mandatory NY State surcharges will be mailed to you. Please note, the DMV
will apply points to your license when convicted of most traffic violations.
If you are pleading NOT GUILTY, sign Section B on the right side of the ticket, print your mailing address and submit it to the court. A court appearance letter will be mailed to you.
ADJOURNMENTS: The court will only consider requests for ONE court day adjournment in the case of a hardship. Requests must be submitted in writing at least 7 days prior to your court date. There is no guarantee your request will be granted. You are expected to be in court unless you receive approval from the court.
Payments are accepted by bank, personal, business or attorney checks in person or by mail. Visa, Mastercard and cash payments may be made IN PERSON ONLY. Mastercard/Visa will charge a 2.99% service fee for each transaction. The credit charge will post as GNE Court Burstein or GNE Court Schaffer on your credit card statement.
